That was odd.

My 29g had a strange event occur. As you may have read, my BTA split about a month ago approximately. Then about a week ago another little guy split off as well.

Will they or won't they...?

Peaches, the Anthias I bought, is actually a Threadfin Anthias according to one site I read. She seems more and more comfortable staying out in the open, but does cautiously hide in the rockwork if I'm around the tank too long.

Livestock update

By: melev | Tags:

This morning, the Anthias came out for a few minutes, after not seeing it for the past 48 hours. I dropped in some food that it ate, but it is out of sight again. Still, I have hope that it will become a happy family member in the reef tank.

Water chemistry - wish it was more stable

By: melev | Tags:

Both tanks are continuing to do well without B-Ionic, but my every-other-day dosing of the two Seachem pH/Calcium buffers seems pretty haphazard. Both tanks have high Alkalinity now (14 and 15dKH) and high Calcium (460 and 470ppm), but the livestock seems fine.

Got a deal on salt today

By: melev | Tags:

I have been out of ESV's B-Ionic for a full seven days now. It is on backorder and I'll have to wait two more weeks! ARGH! For now I've been dosing with Seachem's pH buffer and Calcium, but it is not a stable system and I worry my tanks might suffer during the wait.

March pictures

I took a few pictures yesterday, and hope you enjoy them.

This is my 29g, after the bubble tip anemone split. The image looks a little strange, but it gives you a peek none-the-less in the above picture.

This is my 55g. First the left shot, the center, and the right side.
