 SPS Corals

Certain SPS grow in unique patterns, as the Pavona sp. For the most part, this coral is rigid like stone, but the intersecting pattern (when the polyps are retracted) is what captures the eye of the viewer. This particular piece was in our club's Coral Propagation Workshop, and after various members had a chance to Dremel away some frags, I brought home what was left, and it healed up and grew out into a huge colony. It is a simple coral to keep as it doesn't have any real needs, and should do well in any SPS-dominated tank with proper conditions.  It can sting other corals if it grows too closely to them, sending out hairy sweepers.
