Dendrophyllia is a beautiful coral that you can request from your local fish store. It is similar to Tubastrea (suncoral) in that it needs to be fed. The main differences are that this coral's polyps are about three times the size of Tubastrea, plus these are happy to be open all day for your viewing pleasure. By comparison, Tubastrea tend to be open at night when the lights are out. Feeding it thawed mysis is all it takes, and it should be fed every couple of days. In the picture, you can see babies sprouting out around the base, a results of regular feedings. Please read this page (about suncoral care) before purchasing this coral. With stable reef water parameters, it should do very well. Do not allow aiptasia to sting it.
