I only found out later that it wasn't a rock at all, but a case of Walt Smith's
aqua-cultured live rock from Fiji!
What a cool prize to bring home from MACNA XV, which I checked like baggage
with American Airlines.
The box in front of my 55g. It held between 40 and 50 lbs of LR.
Note the two frags floating in the tank, acclimating.

Wrapped in 3 layers of plastic.

Taa-daa!!!

A total of 14 pieces were in the box.

10 medium sized pieces, and 4 smaller pieces.

These are hand-made with concrete, crush coral and sand, and cultured in the ocean for over 12 months.

Several had a hole going through the rock.

Even some macro algae made the trip.

At first I thought I'd put it right into my sump when I got
home, but I decided to play it safe and
instead put it all in a trashcan filled with new saltwater, a powerhead and
a protein skimmer. In a
few weeks it will be ready to add to my tanks.
