Here's a beautiful fish that is not reef safe at all. This is a Volitan Lionfish - Pterois volitans - and as a child my father had a predator tank with a huge one that we fed often, probably daily. I've always wanted one, but the risk of being stung by the spines on the dorsal area is quite prohibitive. Humans have been seriously affected by their toxins, so it is usually best to have a second person nearby to keep it at one end of the tank with a net while you clean the other end. Lionfish will eat anything that fits into their mouths, and even stuff that doesn't. They can grow to be quite large, and the more you feed the faster they'll grow. Not Reef-safe.
