More locline to the rescue

Here is a picture of the 280g reef as of yesterday.

The new tank is maintaining well. Temperatures range between 79 and 81F from day to day. pH tends to run rather low, around 7.9 to 8.1 but I recently started dripping Kalkwasser to see if that will elevate the levels to 8.3.

Finger foods? Nope.

Tucker is getting along just fine with the other tangs in the 280g. He still has spots were he was injured, but he swims and eats and it is a good indication of full recovery.

Banished to my son's tank

By: melev | Tags:

Tonight I was feeding my son's tank, and the Golden Eel came up to look for food. So I got him some thawed squid. However, he seemed more interested in my fingers than the meaty food! Looks like I'll be able to hand feed this interesting creature provided I get some silversides instead.

Tucker jumped!

I woke up just in time today. My first job was to check the 280g and make sure the fish were swimming right side up. Current pH is 7.8 (but that could be 7.89 because the pH Controller doesn't show the number in hundredths).

Sad

Sadly, I have to report that the beautiful Copperband Butterfly died today. It looked rather thin last night, which was the first time I noticed it. Since I saw it eat frozen food at the LFS, I wasn't worried about it. Plus it eats featerdusters and aiptasia, right?

Let me explain

By: melev | Tags:

If you read my last entry, you knew something was in the works. In the next week or two, I'm going to be upgrading from my 29g and my 55g to a 280g Starfire tank. This is exciting and a bit nerve-wracking as I'm going to have to prepare the spot for the tank.

A July update

In an effort to get rid of my Aiptasia, I've tried a number of methods, including kalkwasser paste injections, Joe's Juice, and adding nine Peppermint Shrimp to my 55g. What I'm seeing is more and more of these glass anemones.
